Pediatrician:
Rash is a Fifth's Disease type (if not THE illness.) Definitely viral, but in the Fifth's category. We've dealt with that viral type before. She says the symptoms can last up to 3 weeks, so that explains why we've seen it for the amount of time we have. His arms are on fire, poor kid. She also checked out his heel which has been causing him serious limping and pain. Basically, she said it had to do with (and I spaced out a bit, so this may be sketchy) it could either be Sever's Disease (which you can google...sounds worse than it is) or tendons (?) separating due to an impending major growth spurt of his foot which would go along with the major growth spurt period that we seem to be entering into. (He is now 5 ft. tall.)
Pediatric Opthamologist:
We had actually seen this doc before when Jack scratched his eye with an eyeball full of sawdust. Anyway, doc does an entirely thorough exam (like 2.5 hours) complete with dilating and tests, etc. We got some good ideas about preventitive measures that we can do...dietary supplements, cleansing pads, warming pads, an antibiotic cream-which we had already been using, etc. He also prescribed an oral round of antibiotics for 6 weeks. Yeah. I know.
So, that was today. Now I'm fading fast because supper hasn't made it into my body yet at 9:30 p.m. Not good.
