Wordless November

I have decided to go on a word strike for the rest of the month. Instead of pointless rambling, I'll be posting a Photo of the Day every day. I've tried this once before, and it was HARD to stick with...but as I recall, I was able to persevere. So, starting tomorrow, A Photo A Day...A Word Strike....A Wordless November.
You've been warned.

10 Boredom Induced Things

1. Jack gets his spacers in tomorrow for his bracers. The following Wednesday he will get his braces put on. We'll be hitting the grocery store ASAP to stock up on things that are easy-to-chew. Sophy told him that he'd be lucky if the ortho didn't break his teeth off, and now Jack is a wee bit nervous.
2. While I'm home in the bed, I might as well shop online for a new purse. I think it'll make me feel better.
3. Random bit o' history: At the end of the Civil War, as parades and crowds gathered in Washington, folks who had gather to hear the President expected Lincoln to order a victory ball, instead, Lincoln asked the band to play Dixie. Of course, experts disagree as to his reasons or motives, but who cares? Abe rocks.
4. Have you seen 'Summove it, Move it' on Ellen? Game contestants wear giant Sumo wrestler suits and compete against each other....HILARIOUS! Making me weep tears of joy.
5. There is way too much Halloween candy in this house.
6. Book Club tidbit: The Book Thief is a great book! I'm not even to the halfway point, but I'm really loving it. This story is narrated by Death, but Death isn't gloomy or morose or depressing. He's dry, and sarcastic, and cynical, and intelligent, and witty, and very likeable...and kind. Yeah, it's a good book.
7. Why does strawberry shortcake sound so good? Hhhhm, odd.
8. The robins in my yard are the size of chickens. Just so ya know. I'm afraid of them.
9. I seriously hope I get to go Dallas because a.) I want to go to Frye's, b.) I'm excited to get to go out to dinner with Sar and Ang....at Ferrari's??? yum, and c.) because I want to.
10. Have you ever made a grilled cheese and put a tomato on it before you grill it? Wow! When Book Club read The Sugar Queen, this sandwich made an appearance in the story, and I had never even THOUGHT to put a tomato on a grilled cheese. So, yeah. It's worth a try, I tell ya. (I know what you're thinking....I'm supposed to be sick......I know! My mind is hungry, but my tummy isn't willing.)

Broken Record

Well, I'm home again, but this time I am alone in my misery. Woke up early with a screaming case of the #2's. Whoa, lemme tell ya. I'm sure this is what the kids had because I feel fine in between spurts (hehe) of running to the toilet, and it has slacked off significantly after the first hour. Seems to be following the path (heheee) that it took with the kids a few days ago. I thought I might have had it the day that Sophy did because my gut was rolling that day, but DaddyP also had that experience the same day and swore that it was a bad case of enchiladas from the previous nights' dinner. After experiencing this today, I tend to agree with him.
So, here I am again. At home, in the bed with my 2 furry heaters to keep me warm. Could be worse, right? Sophy's class is going on a field trip today, but Meem had already agreed to tag along with that group because I hated to ask off after missing 2 days last week (3 if you count the workshop I went to on Monday.) Have an email in to my principal today to see if it's still okay that I miss on Friday. We were hoping to leave for Dallas around noon on Friday and then meet friends for dinner. Hopefully that is still a possibility.
Suppose I'll go watch some tv....

The Day After

Halloween '09
All I can say about today is thank you Time Change for the extra hour! It was quite a treat this morning to not have to rush around in the usual hairum scairum fashion to make it to church on time. And not to change the subject, but check out my morning glories! You can't really tell, but the vine is also intertwined with a Spanish flag vine! Very, very beautiful. Oh, that's me kissing mi novio!
Halloween was huge this year! The kids had a grand time. We ended up trick or treating the 'hood, and it was quite a scene. Our subdivision is a Halloween hot spot every year, but this year it was particularly hard hit. Thankfully, the groups who showed up in hay trailers were extremely politely and appeared to be sufficiently chaperoned. We saw some very nicely decorated mules and some very smartly costumed kiddos. I wish I had more pics of Sam, but the toot wouldn't let me take his pic willingly. Sophy was all too willing to strike an Egyptian pose, so I have lots of pics of her and Jack.
Speaking of Sophy, I found that Cleopatra costume at Walmart! I initially bought one from Costume Express, which is where we get our costumes every year. Once Walmart put their costumes out, I found the costume that she ended up wearing for less than $20 with ALL of the pieces! So I sent the first costume back because that puppy cost $39..plus tax and shipping! I must say, Walmart truly had a much better selection of costumes this year than I have ever seen. Plus, their costumes were individually packaged within one bag, if that makes sense. Remember the days when the costumes were all on hangers and were strewn from one end of the Halloween aisle to another, and you couldn't find the one you were after no matter how hard you tried? And you could kiss it goodbye if that costume had extra pieces with it because they were going to be missing for sure. I'm hoping this new packaging is a new Walmart trend!
Meem and Pop came over as usual to trick or treat with us and to hand out candy once we got home. I had made a pot of gumbo and a pot of chili for this week, and it was very tasty after the nippy ride around the neighborhood in the mule.
I've got chocolate chunk muffins in the oven and only one load of laundry going! I managed to do a bit of laundry every day this week, and today is my reward! Whheee!
