The Day After

Halloween '09
All I can say about today is thank you Time Change for the extra hour! It was quite a treat this morning to not have to rush around in the usual hairum scairum fashion to make it to church on time. And not to change the subject, but check out my morning glories! You can't really tell, but the vine is also intertwined with a Spanish flag vine! Very, very beautiful. Oh, that's me kissing mi novio!
Halloween was huge this year! The kids had a grand time. We ended up trick or treating the 'hood, and it was quite a scene. Our subdivision is a Halloween hot spot every year, but this year it was particularly hard hit. Thankfully, the groups who showed up in hay trailers were extremely politely and appeared to be sufficiently chaperoned. We saw some very nicely decorated mules and some very smartly costumed kiddos. I wish I had more pics of Sam, but the toot wouldn't let me take his pic willingly. Sophy was all too willing to strike an Egyptian pose, so I have lots of pics of her and Jack.
Speaking of Sophy, I found that Cleopatra costume at Walmart! I initially bought one from Costume Express, which is where we get our costumes every year. Once Walmart put their costumes out, I found the costume that she ended up wearing for less than $20 with ALL of the pieces! So I sent the first costume back because that puppy cost $39..plus tax and shipping! I must say, Walmart truly had a much better selection of costumes this year than I have ever seen. Plus, their costumes were individually packaged within one bag, if that makes sense. Remember the days when the costumes were all on hangers and were strewn from one end of the Halloween aisle to another, and you couldn't find the one you were after no matter how hard you tried? And you could kiss it goodbye if that costume had extra pieces with it because they were going to be missing for sure. I'm hoping this new packaging is a new Walmart trend!
Meem and Pop came over as usual to trick or treat with us and to hand out candy once we got home. I had made a pot of gumbo and a pot of chili for this week, and it was very tasty after the nippy ride around the neighborhood in the mule.
I've got chocolate chunk muffins in the oven and only one load of laundry going! I managed to do a bit of laundry every day this week, and today is my reward! Whheee!
