Pretty Friday

In comparison to Ugly Monday, Pretty Friday has been pretty nice. My students were low key at school today, due in large part to the removal of some of the big hitters to 'other educational venues.' Seemed almost like a vacation.
My 3 hooligans seemed to enjoy today as well. The PTO put on Play Day which consisted of games, jumpie castles, ginormous super slides, etc. Jack's class walked to the park afterwards for sno cones, and Sam's class spent most of the day on a field trip to Safety Town. It's safe to say that Safety Town is his new favorite place. He got to ride bikes and learn bike safety, driver safety while driving go-carts, and they got to watch a crash involving a crash test dummy...which made his year worth living. Sophy won a wooden flute today, much to her mother's shagrin. This has only served to reinforce her desire to become a snake charmer when she is grown. She wants a cobra so bad she can taste it.
It was bright, sunny and warm when we got home from school, and PDaddy, miraculously, had no pictures. The kids wanted to swim, so I made a homemade batch of guacamole while DaddyP swam with the kids. I joined them with my book club book, which is too good for words, and we spent the afternoon in the pool. DaddyP is grilling burgers and shrimp now, and I've got some homemade chocolate ice cream churning in the machine. I sauteed some mushrooms to eat while are waiting, and man, are they good. If there is one thing I can do, it's sautee some 'shrooms.
I'll have to update soon with a review for our book club book. I couldn't recommend a book more. You should read it and then recommend it to your friends. They'll thank you, and thank you, and thank you some more. Best book I've read in many, many years. Our first book, by Dickens, was so very challenging, that we are all enraptured over the new book. More on that later.
Tomorrow, I have a hair appointment to get some summer highlights painted on, and DaddyP has something that I can't recall. We really need to get Jack in the pool, since he hasn't been there this week. Swim team starts Monday night (gymnastics night), and Sam and Sophy are planning on giving the first week a trial run. Should be interesting. I just hope I survive a Monday night of gymnastics and swimming.
DaddyP is bellowing...dinner calls!
