Pin the hurricane on the state.

We're spending the afternoon and evening at home with an eye to the news. SIL and Cousins E and C will be fleeing the Lake Charles area today in hopes to beat the rush out of S. Louisiana. SIL says they're turning on Contraflow on Sunday, so they're wanting to be away from that headache as early as possible. They'll be staying at MIL's. My folks are visiting my bro's family near Austin, and I'm worried that if they don't head this way soon they may just have to extend their stay by several days. If the eye passes over us like they're saying, who knows if we'll have electricity. Hopefully, it will weaken a lot before it makes landfall, but I'm not counting on it. I feel for those living closer to the action who may have damage to their homes, etc. SIL's house is right in line with the projected path for now. Maybe it will turn.
Yesterday was an early release day from school, and we came home and relaxed for most of the afternoon. I ended up falling asleep on the couch browsing through a catalog with Sophy. I never, I repeat....never, take a nap. It makes me very, very dangerous demonic lethal unpleasant. So, I woke up with a headache that only got worse as the evening went on. I took Sam to a birthday party in spite of my head throbbing, and we came home earlier than Sam would've liked and crashed into the bed.
Thankfully, my head seems to be healed, so we took the kids for donuts this morning and made a quick trip to Walmart (GAG) for a few essentials. Sam refuses to wear shorts and tennis shoes to school, I have no idea why, so we went to the boot store and bought him some Justin ropers like these and some jeans. The same thing happened last year, but I was sort of hoping that it was a phase he was going through. He is such a boy. He called my dad last night and made him promise that they would go turkey hunting ASAP. He is such the exact opposite of Jack that it isn't even funny. Jack wants flip flops, shorts and a tshirt. Absolute opposites.
PDaddy has bridal and engagement shoots about 2.5 hours from here today, so I'm at home doing laundry for the rest of the afternoon/evening...and yes, PW's lasagna. Oh yes. Oh yes.
