No shame in our game.

We went to a birthday party this eve for one of Sam's classmates/friends, and I did the usual "if you don't mind we'll go home faster than you can say Cheetos" spill at which time I reminded them to be polite, wait their turn even if it killed them, and to please not tell people when their bathing suits weren't exactly figure flattering. They very intently told me that yes m'am they would be polite and angelic. For the most part, they were. Until we were thanking the party mom and Sophy announced in a sugary sweet and matter of fact tone, "Please excuse me. I just farted." She wasn't grand standing. She wasn't trying to be funny. She was apologizing for polluting the air. Next time when I do the "if you don't mind we'll go home" speech, I need to add in there something about not detailing the specifics when we excuse ourselves.
